ひょうたん / Japanese Gourd

ここのところアマビエを作られる七宝作家さんたちの素晴らしい作品をたくさん目にします。自分はそのようなものを作ることはできませんが、そうだ ！ひょうたんも除災招福、幸せを運んでくれるのですよね。

作品自体は、ガラスをひょうたん型に切り抜いて、上にミルフィオリチップをのせただけ。このミルフィオリをのせている時間が一番幸せなのです♡　そして、形を損なわないよう、焼過ぎに気をつけて焼成します。私の電気炉は温度の自動設定はできないので、炉の温度管理がちょっぴりたいへんです。でもその分、自分の電気炉の性質を一番理解していると自負しています。

I see many wonderful Shippo-Yaki made Amabie（legendary Japanese spirit believed to foretell either an abundant harvest or an epidemic @KyleBLeite ) these days. I cannot make such artistic works, but wait, there is the Japanese gourd, which is said to bring happiness and good luck.

The work itself is very simple, cut the glass into a gourd shape and put on the millefiori chips.  I am most happy when laying out the millefiori chips.  Then, you put the work into the electric furnace, and fuse it taking care so that it will not melt in high temperature.  My furnace does not automatically set temperatures, so taking control is a bit difficult.  But I know that I understand the character of my furnace better than anyone else.
